Great story, thanks! Stories like yours are the ones which bring coins to life. Here is another short one on the Morgan dollar: By the end of the 60-ies, when the silver price crashed, the German Federal Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank) purchased large amounts of Morgans. They were melted down and the silver was used to strike the German 10 DM commemoratives for the Olympic games in Munich 1972. So, if you have one of these German commemoratives in your collection, you are likely to have a Morgan underneath. Regards klaupo |
